It's the dawn of a new day, charged by a warm temperature and a big blue sky. Our 20 kt wind is as welcome as an old friend. Sunshine softens the memories of the near gale force winds that blew nonstop over the last few days which afforded us the opportunity of heaving to in twenty foot seas, as well as experimenting with various sail configurations.
Tara's crew of 5 sailors sharing her 54 ft LOA have learned to move in concert with each other in the cockpit, nimbly stepping around tethers and jack lines. With this angle of heel, we're careful not to step on toes, especially the ones with pre-departure stitches.
Our foul weather gear now cast aside for shorts and t-shirts makes everyone smile. This very diverse group of sailors have one thing in common, their spirit of adventure runs as deep as the ocean!
As I write this, we've reclaimed deck space once ruled by cold salt water crashing about while we sailed at exhilarating speeds of 10+ kts through a moonless night. My hair blows wildly in the wind giving new definitions to the word tangle.
The color of the ocean holds unfathomable shades of blue.
Basking in this glorious moment, Captain Mark says, "what a difference a day makes!"
